How to scale a small drawing.

How to scale a small drawing onto a bigger one.

You will need:

  1. A piece of plywood, approximately 5" x 5"

  2. One plywood stick, twice the length of your plywood

  3. A sheet of glass, I use one from a small picture frame

  4. Sharpie

  5. Source of light

  6. A Tripod

If you don't want to be holding the glass, you can build a small holder for it. Cut the plywood stick (of 10" in this case) in half, then glue the two pieces parallel to each other to the piece of plywood. Leave enough space in between to fit the glass. Then drill a hole for your tripod screw.

If you feel like splurging you can print your design on film. But I prefer glass, because it's sturdier, cheaper and reusable.

Using your sharpie trace your design.

If you're happy with it, place it on your tripod. The darker the room the better. You are not going to be able to see too much unless the room is dark. Using your source of light, I use my cellphone, just because the light is sharp and bright. Adjust the height and distance, you can move it backward or forward to adjust the size too.

Using a pencil trace your design.
When you are done with that design, just use some acetone or alcohol to rub off the ink from the glass. And it's ready for the next one.

Enjoy!

Photo Props.

Make your own "Photo Props".

You will need:

Sturdy cardboard

Paint in different colors

Roller, brushes

Tape

Cutter

I use cardboard from old boxes and paint them with latex paint using a roller.

Let them dry completely up side down on a clean surface.  If you notice that they start to curve, apply clean water with a roller on the non painted side and put something heavy on top of it.

Trim the edges and use a pencil to transfer your image.
If you don't have one, look online, there are free ones and also ready to buy ones.

Color it.

Make the hole, start small.  Remember you can always remove a little extra if needed.

Enjoy!

How to fix a hole on a white wall.

The lazy way

You will need:

Correction tape

Sand paper

Wet cloth

Remove all the hardware

Level the hole with sand paper, clean it with the wet cloth.

Pass over once or twice with the correction tape, wipe with wet cloth and pass over with the correction tape once more.

Done with no mess at all.

Make your own Chevron Fabric.

Make your own Chevron Fabric.

You will need

1. A long piece of paper to make your design (it can be newspaper).
2. Pieces of thick cardboard so it doesn't get soggy with the paint (like a big pizza box).
3. Spray paint. I prefer the ones with a regular spray nozzles, not the 360 ones because paint gets everywhere. Rustoleum brand worked better for me. And lite colors of paint on light fabrics are easier.
4. Fabric.
5. Cutter.

 Fold your paper accordion-style.

Cut any angle.

Spread it out and see if you like it.

Transfer to your cardboard

Cut

Put plastic over a table and secure your fabric.

Lay down your template, you can add some tape in the back, so it doesn't move.

Spray. DO NOT OVER SPRAY!, you don't want the paint to get under the template.

Wait a few seconds. It dries fast, but always check first. Lift your template and move it to the next section.

Wash your fabric to get rid of the odor. And enjoy!
